The eggs in the photograph galleries ranging in diameter from 0.7 to 2 mm. The pictures were taken with a scanning electron microscope, which uses beams of electrons to keep track of object surfaces. Then a black and white photos were altered in color to reflect the natural appearance of the eggs.

Our mothers always said everything tastes better with a dash of love, but these video game cakes combine tasty dessert with a tablespoon of geek for deliciously dorky results.

Depicting characters and consoles, some of these confections are impressively professional, while other are obviously homemade. All we know is that if a girl made us a sweet Legend of Zelda cake for our birthdays, we’d pretty much go ahead and propose right after we ate all the frosting off Link’s shield.

World Championship of Sand Sculpting

60 fun-loving artists from 17 countries who recently descended on a drizzly Seattle suburb to participate in the annual World Championship of Sand Sculpting. If the event’s name conjures up images of standard sand castles built on the beach, think again.

The beginning of the World Championship competition is known as the “pound up” day. Sand sculptors ranging in age from 24 to 68 spend that day shoveling more than 33,000 pounds of sand into wooden forms that eventually get removed. The objective: To get the sand wet and compact it down, down, down so it becomes firm and stable enough to be transformed into high-flying, whimsical shapes.

Residents of Los Pinos, Colombia, including children, use a zipline for their daily commute. There are two ways in or out of Los Pinos– A two-hour hike or a one-minute zip line ride. Eight children use the zip line daily to go to school and return home. There are no plans to build a bridge, because the population of the village doesn’t justify it. Two separate cables strung across the river 1,200 feet below allow you to come and go, so– bring your own pulley, rope, and brake, and away you go! It looks like fun, but I don’t know about doing it every day.

Maximum speed, which can be developed on these ropes – 62 km / h.
Length – 400 meters.
